    Re: Region D Football schedules

It is true that the LPD hasn't had many teams lately capable of making the Finals...but they have had as many in the past 10 years than the BDD has had since its inception. It's not PVs fault that Haysi and Honaker avoid them like the plague until the playoffs.

Although Haysi has pretty much had the upperhand in the RC/Haysi games I thought it was a good little rivalry in the late 80s and since around 2000. The game 2 years ago was a good one in OT.

I'll tell you what it means...It means the days are over where 2 cumberland district teams make the playoffs. That alone, will make the D1 playoffs a billion times stronger.

    Re: Region D Football schedules

Three years ago Hurley and Twin Valley both made it...that was worst than 2 CD teams...that year either of those two teams couldn't have finished in the top 3 in the Cumberland even.

Heck, had RC been in D1 it would have helped that year and the year before for D1.

That is true...If I'm not mistaken, that was the year that Cove went to PV.

    Re: Region D Football schedules

The year Hurley and TV made it sure was. JIB was the 1 seed after finishing 3rd in the LPD. TS the 2 after placing 2nd in the CD, and then TV the 3, and Hurley the 4 after placing the same spots in the BDD. RC would have been a 1 seed that year in D1, but instead was the 4 in D2. At least the PV game was respectable. The boys at RC played their hearts out but PV was superior talent and depth.

    Re: Region D Football schedules

"Well the top two teams in D2 had a 1-3 record against the top in D1. Granted CW and PV could both beat Ervinton and Castlewood but even had they played that would only even the record."

The top seed was PV and the beat the 2nd seed in d-1 pretty handily and would have done the same against the 3rd and 4th seed.

The 2nd seed was Haysi, they were pretty much on even terms with the d-1 2nd seed but did not play them. They beat the 3rd seed in d-1 34-0 and would have done the same against the d-1 4th seed.

The 3rd seed in d-2 was Clintwood and they also would have killed both the 3rd and 4th seed in d-1 and probably would have beaten the 2nd seed if they had played them toward the end of the year.

The 4th seed was Honaker and they would have unquestionably handled the d-1 3rd and 4th seeded teams and many would've picked them to beat the 2nd seed also.

In reality there is not much comparison if you go from top to bottom.

Cove made a good showing for themselves at the park IMO.

    Re: Region D Football schedules

Overall, I thought the D1 field was as good as the D2...The D1 #1 could have beaten any of the 8 D1 or D2 teams..and the D1 #2 could beat all of em except PV and the D1 #1.
